Yeah, usually the lack of light drives me out of the garden (finally) in the evening, but lately it’s been the darned mosquitoes! I just can’t believe how many of them there are, and they are EVERYWHERE.

Oh, I’d forgotten about West Nile, Jen–but I did wonder, when I started slathering cortisone all over myself last night, how many bites it would take to get me in the hospital. Or how much sheer irritation, for that matter.

Marigold, I have no idea whether the city sprays for mosquitos. I never thought to check. I don’t wear Avon cream, but I’m going to look into some sort of bug repellent. I have a hat that repels bugs (Buzz Off, I think, by Ex Officio), but of course it doesn’t extend down to my legs. The gardens abuts the neighbors’ badly neglected backyard, so it’s quite possible that there are puddles there. I’ll have to do some investigating and see what I come up with–thanks!

Does your city spray for Mosquitoes? Do you wear that Avon cream that repels them? Are there any puddles of water in your yard that they are breeding in? This would be a fascinating blog topic. marigold x

I have already told everyone here that I’m going to be the test case for West Nile in my area.

Although I can’t say I’ve gotten twenty-four in one trip to the garden!

(A mosquito actually bit my foot through the holes in my fake Crocs! Now that’s dedication.)
