The cotton has sprouted.
These things are enormous. You know what else is enormous?
The luffa seedlings. These are some of the few things still on the windowsill inside–everything else is either planted or sitting in the greenhouse on the patio, waiting for the rain to subside. Good thing, since these things don’t leave a lot of elbow room.

Yup, cotton-cotton. One of my other hobbies is spinning, and I learned that you can grow naturally-colored cotton, so what with my current seed mania it seemed like a natural fit…
Of course, my growing season probably isn’t long enough, but I didn’t see the harm in trying, so I’ve got Erlene’s Green and Nankeen Brown sprouting. The seeds are cool looking, like green and brown fuzzy beetles.

Neat.
I lived in Bakersfield, CA for a while…the land of cotton.
